FC Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend
The club confirmed they will play at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years following their departure to allow renovations to start.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside based on approved permits. After final construction, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium in early November. The club said they are seeking authorization by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht next month at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches at the Olympic Stadium.
